Our 2022 New Year's Message

Newsletter

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

As we enter into 2022, we want to take a look back at some of our decisions in 2021 and also forward to the path we'll be charting as we progress though the upcoming months. This past year has seen a number of changes and developments for Gamer Guildhall. We've had both technical upgrades and newly created sections of the website, as well as directional shifts in regards to certain plans. A number of these topics were detailed in our May 2021 Newsletter, so we won't delve into what has already been covered. However, we do want to touch on some things we didn't get into and focus on a few things we intend to get into over the course of this year. We're excited to employ what we've learned from the past in our ongoing ventures and adventures.

GAME ON

One of the reasons we had previously opened the Resources section was because of the vast game development materials and assets we were discovering. We wanted to share this information with others, but the search for it was motivated by the desire to ultimately start building games. The two main tools we'll be delving into this coming year is Ren'py for visual novels and Godot for 2D and 3D game development. Both are free-to-use programs that allow the creation of commercial and non-commercial games alike. These would be simple games we'd make available in an Arcade section of this site. We may also re-visit browser-game suppliers as a feature of free website games as part of that Arcade.

SOCIAL MEDIA

Over the past year, we've re-examined the social media venues we were making use of. We were preparing to discuss some of those shifts in this article, but it was easily becoming an article of its own. There have been a number of factors to consider, especially with a number of new competitors entering the market. Suffice to say, we've made some changes and may discuss that in an upcoming article. We'll make an announcement if we do.

STREAMER SPOTLIGHT

This year we're going to be launching a new article series entitled "Streamer Spotlight". Each month, we'll focus on a different streamer and highlight their stream contents and additional projects. There are a number of streamers doing some impressive things while building positive communities. We feel this is worth showcasing to help display the good in gaming and further connect the multitude of gamers. The intended launch for that series is later this month, January 2022.

OVERALL COMMITMENT

As always, whatever one builds has to be maintained. Sections of the site that we launched last year will continue to grow in consistent development. We will continue to create new articles, add listed games to the Directory, point to helpful Resources, and generally expand our current platform. We are committed to our mission "to provide access to information & resources within a family-friendly environment to assist gamers and content creators in their game-related pursuits" and our vision "to introduce newcomers to the adventure of gaming, while becoming a premier resource in gamer life and culture". It's going to be an exciting year of growth and exploration within our Adventures In Gaming. We invite you to join us.
