Hello Kitty Island Adventure thoughts and updates (I have the steam version):

The FACTS:

The regular version is $40 and the deluxe is $60. The game was originally made as a mobile game that is on Apple Arcade which is a $10/month subscription.

The PROS:

I think the game is super cute and fun. The graphics are superb and so adorable and cozy. The characters are charming, especially if you are already a Sanrio fan. You get to give gifts, collect items, and explore a fun island with 5 themes (beach, lava, old western, underwater, and spooky). You get to decorate your room with fun furniture, get more Sanrio characters to come to the island, and have lots of options for your animal characters look, color ways, and clothing. The underwater portion is super fun and a neat twist on how many games like this use water. There's fast travel which is SO nice.

The CONS:

It's clear that its a PC/Switch version of a mobile game and has its shortcomings because of that. The dialog is more geared for a younger audience playing on mobile. It's designed to get to you play daily by having only so many things you can do each day before you're time gated. And time travel will break your game completely. This is intentional as they clearly state that if you time travel, they wont help you fix it. You don't get to decorate your island or change the themes (might be a pro for some) but I don't like spooky stuff so I wish I could change the theme of it. You have to be friends with everyone, you can't pick and choose.

My OPINIONS:

This game is so cute and pretty darn fun, but it isn't worth the $40+ price tag. I think it's closer to a $25 game. If you love Sanrio, it might be worth the $, but as someone who just likes cute cozy games, I think it's too expensive right now. I'll continue to play the game and enjoy it, but I regret not waiting for it to go on sale.
