Every adventurer has one. This is mine.
Even in my earlier years, creativity was an important aspect of my involvement. From creating stories for the toys I'd play with to literally writing stories on paper, developing these scenarios immersed me that much more in my activity. Though I wouldn't consider my drawing skills to be of any real talent, I would often draw out character ideas and would even make my own comic books. I consider these things my first adventure...an adventure of the mind. So why the name Wulf? I've written up a nice little blog entry about that which you can read here. Suffice to say, it represents my adventurous spirit.
After becoming a Christian, I reached a point in my life that I felt that I needed to get rid of (destroy) all the (fiction) things I had written over the years. That may seem troubling to some and I had friends who had expressed similar concerns even at that time, but I needed to do it. I'm not saying everyone needs to do that, I'm just saying that I did. Whether it was about giving up my own plans and getting in line with God's, getting rid of story elements that glorified bad things, or just breaking from my past; it has been years since that decision and I hold no regrets. Sometimes a fresh start is healthy.
Previously, my design focus had been on creating video games. I later had opportunity to work with a multimedia ministry at a local church and it opened my interest to other types of media formats. I'm still passionate about making games, but my vision for storytelling has increased to other venues, as well. I realized that an adventure of the mind can't be contained to just one medium and finding the right one to tell it can help shape the experience with that story. That doesn't mean the same story can't be told over multiple venues, though! A good adventure is always worth reliving in tale!
A path marked with purpose.
The outcome is determined not only by how it ended, but by how you started.
Whatever moniker you choose or call yourself by, be sure you live up to it!
